How Advantage Pools and Hot Tubs collects, uses, and protects your personal information in Canada.

Last Updated: June 24, 2026

Who We Are

Advantage Pools and Hot Tubs (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates advantagepoolsandhottubs.com, an online store for hot tubs, spa parts, and related products. We are based in Edmonton, AB, Canada. Our distribution warehouse is located at 6027 79 Ave SE #2133, Calgary, AB T2C 5P1.

We are accountable for personal information under our control. Questions about this policy or your privacy rights can be directed to our Privacy Officer at privacy@advantagepoolsandhottubs.com.

Applicable Law

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's privacy laws, including:

  • The Personal Information Protection Act (Alberta) (“PIPA”), where we collect, use, or disclose personal information in the course of commercial activities in Alberta.
  • The federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”), where it applies to our interprovincial and international e-commerce activities.
  • Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), for commercial electronic messages such as marketing emails and newsletters.

1. Information We Collect

Account and order information

When you create an account, place an order, or request a return, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing address, order history, and return requests (RMAs). Accounts are managed through Clerk; we receive the profile information you provide there.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. Stripe may collect card details, billing information, and fraud-prevention signals on our behalf.

Contact and newsletter information

If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email, phone (optional), subject, message, and a truncated IP address for abuse prevention. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address and subscription source.

Website and device data

We automatically collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referral URLs. With your consent, analytics and marketing tools may also collect usage and interaction data as described in the Cookies section below.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate, including:

  • Processing and fulfilling orders, including shipping, delivery, and local pickup.
  • Creating and managing customer accounts and order history.
  • Providing customer support and responding to inquiries submitted through our contact form.
  • Processing returns, refunds, and warranty-related requests.
  • Sending transactional messages about your orders, account, or requests (order confirmations, shipping updates, return status).
  • Calculating and remitting applicable Canadian sales taxes (GST, HST, PST, or QST) based on your delivery address.
  • Improving our website, products, and customer experience.
  • Detecting fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • With your express or implied consent where required, sending promotional emails, newsletters, and special offers. You may unsubscribe at any time.

3. Service Providers and Disclosure

We use trusted third-party service providers who process personal information on our behalf and only for the purposes we authorize. These may include:

  • Clerk — customer account authentication and profile management.
  • Stripe — payment processing and fraud prevention.
  • Resend — transactional and notification email delivery.
  • Easyship — shipping rate quotes and carrier label generation (when enabled).
  • Google Analytics — website usage analytics (only if you consent to analytics cookies).
  • Meta (Facebook Pixel) — advertising measurement (only if you consent to marketing cookies).
  • Sentry — error monitoring to help us diagnose technical issues (when enabled).
  • Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
  • Neon — secure database hosting for orders, contact submissions, and newsletter subscriptions.

We may also disclose information to carriers for delivery, to professional advisers where required, or when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of others. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cross-Border Processing

Some of our service providers are located in the United States or other countries. When personal information is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including lawful access by courts, law enforcement, or national security authorities. We require providers to protect information with appropriate contractual and organizational safeguards.

5. Data Security

Protecting your information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including HTTPS encryption for data in transit and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong, unique password for your account.

6. Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:

  • Order and account records — typically for seven years after the transaction, to meet tax, accounting, and warranty obligations.
  • Contact form submissions — until your inquiry is resolved, and up to two years for follow-up and dispute resolution.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address.
  • Analytics and marketing data — according to the retention settings of the relevant provider, or until you withdraw cookie consent.

We securely delete or anonymize information when it is no longer required.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and — with your consent — measure traffic and deliver relevant advertising. You can manage preferences at any time using Cookie Settings in the site footer or your browser controls.

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function, including shopping cart, checkout, session management, and security. These cannot be disabled through our cookie banner.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site through Google Analytics. IP addresses may be anonymized. Loaded only with your consent.
  • Marketing cookies — used by platforms such as Meta (Facebook) to measure ad performance and show relevant offers. Loaded only with your consent.

See also our Terms of Service and the cookie preferences panel linked from the footer.

8. Marketing and CASL

We send promotional emails and newsletters only with consent or as otherwise permitted under CASL. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link. You can also contact us at privacy@advantagepoolsandhottubs.com to opt out. Transactional messages about your orders or account are not marketing and may still be sent.

9. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of personal information, where we are not required to retain it.
  • Withdraw consent for optional uses such as marketing or non-essential cookies.
  • Challenge our compliance with applicable privacy law.

To make a request, email privacy@advantagepoolsandhottubs.com with enough detail for us to verify your identity and locate your records. We will respond within the timeframes required by PIPA or PIPEDA, typically within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact:

  • The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta — oipc.ab.ca
  • The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (where PIPEDA applies) — priv.gc.ca

10. Children

Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province or territory (18 in Alberta). If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page; where appropriate, we may also notify registered customers by email.
